Naples – the Madonna dell’arco
The Madonna dell’Arco is an ancient devotion that is still deeply alive in Naples today.
Every year, groups from across the city and the surrounding province walk through the night for hours to reach the sanctuary in Sant’Anastasia. People pray, talk, and push through exhaustion and sleepiness together until dawn.
Inside the church, devotion explodes through bodies and voices. Some people cry, some shout out their pain, others crawl all the way to the altar to ask for a miracle.
